How to activate the service?

a) Call BIMA Customer Service Hotline at 010242248 between 7 AM to 10:30 PM on all working days

Notes:
At registration you will need to name a nominee, which is a relative who will be paid the insurance cover in the event of your death.
The insurance will only cover the policyholder, and only one policy will be issued per phone number.

What are the payment terms?

1. Monthly Payment

a) Payment through airtime deductions will begin on the 1st of the month following registration.
b) Smart will deduct USD 0.04 or USD 0.08 per day (depending on the policy level) for the first 20 days of the month.
c) Smart Life Insurance coverage will begin following one full cycle of monthly deductions. So as soon as you’ve made one full month of payments, on the 1st of the following month you are illegible for Smart’s Life Insurance plan.
d) The terms of the cover for the insured is one month and is renewed each month by continued subscription to the Smart Life Insurance plan.

Note:
To keep your full insurance cover active, you must avoid having no credit in your account for too many days in one month.
2. Partial Coverage

a) If full payment cannot be deducted in one month, customers may be eligible for partial coverage according to the table below.
b) If full payment cannot be deducted in one month, but the customer pays more than one of the deduction thresholds listed below, the excess amount of airtime that has been deducted but not used to pay for insurance cover will be carried over to the following calendar month for the next round of deductions.


c) If there is non-payment of a full monthly premium or partial premium for one calendar month, the policy will still be considered as active. A maximum insurance coverage of a benefit of 10% will be provided for a cover period of 60 days following the initial 30 days of cover.

3. Check your Coverage

a) Dial *2248*4# to track your premium payments in the current month
b) Dial *2248*5# to check the level of coverage you enjoy in the current month

4. Things you need to know

a) Cancellation – the policyholder may cancel the policy by contacting the BIMA Customer Service Hotline at 010-242248. Premium deduction will be terminated within 48 hours.
b) De-registration – the policyholder will be de-registered if the insurance policy has been fully claimed, if the policyholder becomes ineligible insurance due to age, or if there is non-payment of either a full monthly premium or partial premium for a consecutive period of three calendar months.
c) SMS Updates – the policyholder will receive an SMS message from the mobile operator every month to inform him/her about the amount deducted and the amount of cover.

How to Claim
a) Call BIMA Customer Service Hotline at 010-242248 during office hours.
b) A BIMA representative will help you to submit the required documents at a specific location.
c) Claim decision will be processed within 7 working days and payment will be made through cash or cheque, alternatively payment can be made through mobile money platforms.

Notes:

Claims should be initiated within three months of the event.
Benefit will not be paid if loss of life occurs directly or indirectly from committing suicide; in case of war, insurrection, instigators of riot or civil commotion; committing or provoking a criminal offence including, but not limited to, intake of illegal drugs, narcotics or alcohol other than as prescribed by a medical doctor; non-disclosure of pre-existing medical condition on enrolment. The insured shall be in good health at the date of enrolment free from pre-existing medical conditions.
The minimum age for applicants 18 years of age and the maximum is 59 years old, i.e. customers who have turned 59 cannot sign up for the product. Cover ceases at age 60.
Cover is valid only in Cambodia.
